Pilar Mehlis
Learn from our talented instructor Pilar Mehlis. She studied at The University of Victoria where she double majored in Visual Arts and History of Art. She pursued further studies at the former Vancouver Art Academy, at the Gage Academy of Art in Seattle, U.S.A. and at the Aristides Classical Atelier.
She has been teaching and working as an artist in the city of Vancouver for the past 18 years.
Oil Painting for Beginners
Oil painting is a beautiful medium used by artists throughout the centuries.
This course will introduce the basics of oil painting to add to your practice.
Students will learn that contrast and light makes a painting glow.
A limited palette will be used to understand how to create tone. Fundamentals of color will be practiced with glazing techniques.
Students will create a luminous oil painting by learning many techniques used by the masters.
